Freestyle matchmaker UFC boss Dana White said Saturday night that Habib Nurmagomedov, a superstar of the sport, is ready to return to the cage under certain boundary conditions.
- I'm going to watch two lightweight matches next weekend.
If these guys do something amazing, I’ll come back and greet them, White announced at Nurmagomedov’s mouth on the ABC broadcast on Saturday.
Nurmagomedov referred to the meeting of UFC superstar Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier next weekend.
McGregor and Poirier teamed up for the UFC 257 Main Event in Abu Dhabi.
In another lightweight main card match, Dan Hooker and Michael Chandler will face off.
White discussed with Nurmagomedov his return plan on Friday in Abu Dhabi.
Nurmagomedov won Justin Gathje at UFC 254 last October and announced in his emotional speech in the ring after the match that he would end his career in it.
In the background was a promise made by the contestant to his mother that that match would be his last.
Nurmagedov's father and coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov died in July of the aftermath of the coronavirus.
The Russian wrestler is expected to make a decision.
He himself spoke of his possible return last December.
