Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The Schwerin Chamber of Commerce and Industry considers long-term support for the industries affected by the lockdown to be necessary.

"If the number of infections declines, which it does not look like at the moment, however, I initially expect partial openings in the hospitality industry," said the managing director Siegbert Eisenach of the German press agency.

If an innkeeper or hotelier is only allowed to occupy a part of his places or beds, he still often has the full costs, so that such a partial opening is unlikely to be economical in many cases.

"There has to be help then," demanded Eisenach.

According to Eisenach, the state's new offers of support, which are intended to supplement federal aid, are going in the right direction.

As an example, he cited the presence bonus for retailers in the amount of 5,000 euros.

Brick-and-mortar retailers could partially push online concepts in order to become more competitive with internet retailing, he said.

Ideally, however, everyone should benefit from this, and not just those businesses with severe sales losses.

Eisenbach emphasized that it was still important to get the aid to the entrepreneurs quickly.

He welcomed the fact that things are finally going faster with the November and December aid.

One problem is the application for many aid programs through tax consultants, who can hardly keep up and now also have other tasks such as annual financial statements to do.
