Munich (dpa / lby) - dogs in Bavaria are not allowed to go to the hairdresser during the lockdown - unlike their conspecifics in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In Münster, the administrative court decided in an urgent procedure that dog salons may continue to be open.

A dog hairdresser from Emsdetten, who had been informed by the authorities that she had to temporarily close her shop, had complained.

In Bavaria, the authorities do not see the hairdressing of dogs as indispensable for daily needs, as a spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Munich announced.

Basically, shops with customer traffic in Bavaria should not open in view of the very worrying infection situation, so that not only contacts in and in the shop, but also mobility itself are minimized, according to the ministry.

"The exceptions are therefore to be handled restrictively."

According to the ministry, animal care is only permitted when there is an “urgent need” - for example when claws are threatened with growing in, rabbits have dental problems or fur is too matted and this could lead to skin inflammation.

Medicinal baths against parasites or skin fungus in animals are only allowed to be carried out by animal keepers if the animals can only be bathed by their owner if there is a risk of injury to animals and humans.

In Münster, the court had argued that hairdressing or clipping of dogs on dogs was comparable to a craft - such as in a bicycle or car workshop.

There is contact with customers, in this case the dog owners.

The minimum distances of 1.5 meters could, however, be maintained.

The dog hairdresser had told the court that the dogs would be received at the door, the money would be deposited in a can on a bank in front of the house, and individual customers would not meet.
