January 16, 2021 Franco Lettieri, the man killed last night by stabbing in Ascoli Piceno, who has long lived in the Marche city, was a former collaborator of justice.

"O 'Cacaglio", this is the nickname with which the 56-year-old from Salerno was known, had moved there from Campania where he had been involved in some facts connected to organized crime, so much so that he had been convicted of criminal association. justice, living for a period under protection which, however, had been taken away from him for some time and had received a sum of money to be able to rebuild a life away from his land.

He then settled in Ascoli.

However, his legal background is not, at the moment, connected in any way with the murder of which Lettieri was the victim last night and for which Petre Lambru, a 57-year-old Romanian bricklayer, also a resident of Ascoli, is in prison.

Lettieri in the past had been the object of attention from the judiciary for the death of a woman from Ascoli with whom he had accompanied after she was left a widow;

there was talk of a hypothesis of ill-treatment for which, however, no elements had been collected.

The victim allegedly had a quarrel with a young man.

Seeing the scene, the boy's uncle, the 57-year-old Romanian bricklayer arrested, would intervene to defend the relative and hit Lettieri with three stab wounds and then flee.

Although seriously injured, the man from Salerno managed to get up and drag himself to the nearby via dei Soderini where he fell to the ground.

In the meantime, someone gave the alarm to the carabinieri who arrived on the spot together with an ambulance of 118. During the very first aid, Lettieri, before expiring, mentioned the name of the two Romanians, the young man with whom he was arguing and his uncle of the latter who arrived immediately after and that he would have hit him with fatal stabs.

So the soldiers of the provincial command Ascoli in a very short time traced the two to their homes, accompanying them to the barracks.

During the night they declared the 57-year-old, now in prison, under arrest for voluntary murder.

The reasons for the dispute between Lettieri and the young man are still unknown.

The reconstruction of what happened was made by the carabinieri following the traces of blood visible on the ground and based on the elements that emerged in the cadaveric reconnaissance carried out by the coroner of the Vasta 5 Area of Ascoli Pietro Alessandrini, who intervened at the murder site.

Investigations that lasted until 4 this morning.

Then the body was transferred to the morgue of the Mazzoni hospital.

The autopsy will be performed next week.
