Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - Hessian tourism continued to collapse in November in view of the corona pandemic.

The accommodation establishments recorded a drop in guests of 83 percent compared to the same month last year and a drop in overnight stays of 68 percent.

The State Statistical Office announced on Friday in Wiesbaden.

To combat the corona numbers rising again, a partial lockdown was imposed in November.

Overnight stays by private travelers in hotels, guest houses and other accommodation providers were prohibited.

The open operations had to meet numerous requirements.

This reduced the number of beds by 18 percent compared to November 2019, and the average occupancy fell from 40 percent to 19 percent.

According to the State Office, the largest declines in the number of overnight stays were recorded by the establishments in Frankfurt am Main (minus 82 percent) and the Main-Taunus district (minus 78 percent).

In October 2020, 56 percent fewer guests and 45 percent fewer overnight stays were registered compared to the same month last year.
