Marburg (dpa / lhe) - The new senior call collective taxi in Marburg is well received: an average of ten people travel every day, as the municipal utilities announced on Friday.

On January 4th, the central Hessian city introduced the offer for people aged 65 and over.

Since the elderly are considered to be a corona risk group, the driver service is intended to offer them better protection against infection, for example if they have to run errands.

According to the information, a minibus and an additional car were in use every day during the first few weeks of taxi operation.

The vehicles would have covered an average of around 250 kilometers per day.

The shared taxi not only serves the center of Marburg, but also the outskirts. Those who order the service can have themselves taken from stop to stop on the bus routes. The taxis are available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Seniors need proof of their age to travel with them, for example using their identity card. A bus ticket is also required, but it can also be bought in a taxi.
