It is an information indicating the sale of narcotics near the military barracks of Varces (Isère) which prompted the gendarmes to carry out the investigation in February 2020. Monday, twelve men aged 20 to 37 years were arrested in the Grenoble suburbs, in Isère and Haute-Savoie, as part of the dismantling of a vast traffic in cannabis, herb and cocaine, we learn from the Grenoble prosecutor's office.

The investigators were quick to understand that the highly organized network of traffickers did not sell their drugs only to a few soldiers but to a whole clientele of the Grenoble area, indicates the public prosecutor of Grenoble, Eric Vaillant.

They then went back to the main dealer, "well established in this traffic" and assisted by several lieutenants, who sold several kilos of cannabis per week.

After identifying all the members of the network, the gendarmes proceeded at the beginning of the week to a series of arrests.

During the searches carried out, 1.5 kg of cannabis resin, a kilo of grass and a few grams of cocaine were discovered.

Four weapons, a large amount of ammunition and 23,000 euros in small denominations were also found, as well as multiple items of great value.

Among them, luxury bags, perfumes, a Rolex watch worth 10,000 euros, or a Mercedes worth 35,000 euros were seized, adds the prosecutor.

At the end of their presentation to the prosecution, ten men were indicted for their involvement to varying degrees in this trafficking.

Six of them were taken into custody and four others were released and placed under judicial supervision.

The two suspects who were not referred to the prosecution were left free.
