It is the state authority Trafikverket that decides which operators will run the various train routes in Sweden.

The agreement between Vy Tåg and the Swedish Transport Administration is valid for four years and can be extended for another two years.

The state wants Swedes to travel more environmentally friendly, ie more trains and less flights.

- Of course, the prices must be reasonable and we will have follow-up meetings with Vy, says head of investigation Håkan Jacobsson at the Swedish Transport Administration.

"People must be able to afford to travel by train"

He does not think that prices have been raised much under Vys' direction of night traffic.

The head of the investigation is not aware of SVT's price example of a 130% increase in the ticket price in its own sleeping car compartment.

But he says that the Swedish Transport Administration will follow up on how travel to and from Norrland develops.

- The price level must be such that people can afford to travel by train, says Håkan Jacobsson.
