• C. VALENCIANA.A couple of socialist mayors of Alicante are vaccinated because "there were too many doses" in their outpatient clinic

Two mayors of

Alicante

, a mayor and a mayor of

Tarragona

and this Friday the mayor of the Cordovan town of

Torrecampo

have become the mayors of the controversy over their vaccination against the

coronavirus

ahead of time.

According to all of them, not to "waste" doses that apparently were left over.

The mayoress of the Cordovan town of Torrecampo,

Francisca Alamillo

(PSOE), has been the last to join the bandwagon of vaccinated mayors.

Alamillo has been vaccinated against the

coronavirus

without belonging to a risk group, as confirmed by herself on social networks after the complaint made public by the PP in said municipality.

In her Facebook profile, the socialist councilor explained that on December 19 the

Torrecampo nursing home

, of which she is president, sent a document to the director of Nursing of the corresponding Health Area indicating the people (residents and workers) who they wanted to get vaccinated.

The councilor who communicated the relationship that links her to the residence alludes to and her express desire not to be vaccinated until it corresponds to the population group to which she belongs.

"When the antigen tests begin to be carried out and taking into account that I visit the residence weekly as a component of the organization chart of the same, as I am president of the same and not as a political position, the nurse case manager gives her authorization to carry out said test ", assures Alamillo.

As he explains, on January 12 the vaccines arrive at the residence and the nurses start the

vaccination

on the document they have at that time, although

a worker does not attend

the appointment

and another who in principle was going to wear it because he is not there. providing services at the end of the contract.

"In the end, there are two vaccines left over and the nurses asked the center's management to call two people quickly, and the director said that two people would show up in 30 seconds," argues the councilor.

Faced with this situation and taking into account that they had indicated that

"sick people are not vaccinated"

, the management of the center "calls the auxiliary who was initially on the list but now is not providing service in the center" and "calls me to me, as president, since I go to the center every week ".

A couple of socialist mayors of Alicante are vaccinated

But it has not been the only one.

This Thursday, the Valencian Generalitat opened an investigation to the health department of Denia (La Marina Alta) and that of Torrevieja (La Vega Baja), in the province of Alicante, to clarify the reasons why two have been vaccinated mayors who are not part of the risk groups - residences or health workers - that should be vaccinated at this time.

The Ministry has ensured that the

vaccination

plan

is being carried out in a "rigorous and orderly manner" and, in the words of the counselor, Ana Barceló, "no alteration of it will be allowed."

This investigation comes after it became known that the socialist mayors of the small towns of El Verger,

Ximo Coll

, and Els Poblets,

Carolina Vives

, both in the north of the province of Alicante, have been vaccinated against

Covid-19

despite not be part of the risk groups because there were several doses left over that had been sent to the local health center.

In statements, the mayor of

El Verger

has reported that last Friday the person in charge of the health center called him to explain that there were seven doses left of those sent to vaccinate health personnel because two workers were in quarantine, another two had the flu and three more preferred not to inject it.

He has assured that "without hiding or bad faith" he went with his wife, who is the mayor of the neighboring town of

Els Poblets

, and that they administered the vaccines.

In addition, the other five remaining doses were given to agents of the local police and the Civil Guard who at that time were serving in the town.

Controversy over the vaccination of the mayor of Riudoms

And the same thing happened in the Tarragona town of

Riudoms

in which the mayor Sergi Pedret (JxCat), and another councilor of the City Council received the vaccine also when there were two remaining doses.

A decision highly criticized by the Secretary of Public Health of the Generalitat,

Josep Maria Argimon

, who has assured that "it is not ethical".

"It should not have occurred", lamented the secretary, who has clarified that the instruction of the teams when administering the doses is not to throw vaccines and act with maximum fluidity and speed, in his words.

He has also argued that a residence is a limited environment compared to a hospital, in which the flexibility to rearrange leftover doses of the vaccine "is much easier."

In addition, he reiterated that

the capacity of Pfizer's vaccine vials

changed from five doses for each vial to six on January 8 - the European Commission approved the change a day later - and added that now "all schedules and schedules "are made from this increment.

Apparently, and according to the mayor's explanation, the

vaccination

team at

the municipality's residence realized that there were two doses left over that "could not be given due to different circumstances" and had to be withdrawn.

The

vaccination

team

then decided that before the doses were missed "they had to be taken advantage of."

The mayor and the mayor then decided to get vaccinated.

Another Valencian mayor admits to having been vaccinated

But also another Valencian mayor has admitted having been vaccinated when it was not his due.

This is the mayor of Rafelbunyol, the socialist Fran López, who received the remaining coronavirus vaccine on the first day that it began to be administered in the Valencian Community.

The mayor of the Valencian town, however, has apologized for having accepted the proposal to administer a surplus vaccine: "With perspective I would not have done it, but it was the first day that the

Valencian Community

was vaccinated

, on December 27 , and all the people on the list were already vaccinated. No one was left unvaccinated, "he explained on Plaza Radio.

López, who is the head of the residence for the elderly in the municipality where the first vaccine in the entire

Valencian Community

was administered

, has defended that at that time he considered that receiving the vaccine could help build confidence in its administration.

"Doubts had been raised about the speed in the creation of the

vaccine

and I thought it might be a good idea for me to use it to generate trust as has been done in other countries with political leaders. And everyone had already been vaccinated", has indicated.

The decision, in any case,

was immediately transferred to the opposition

, according to the mayor of this Valencian town: "I have not hidden anything. The PP spokesman knows it because I told him personally," he stressed.
