Mestlin (dpa / mv) - A driver of a small motorcycle was seriously injured in a rear-end collision not far from Mestlin (Ludwigslust-Parchim).

As a police spokesman said on Friday, a car rammed the 57-year-old moped driver from behind in the morning.

The two-wheeled vehicle and its driver were then thrown into a ditch and the driver was taken to the hospital.

Such mopeds run with engines that have been reduced in power.

This small motorcycle had a top speed of 25 kilometers per hour.

Why the driver did not notice the two-wheeler in time is now being investigated.

The driver was unharmed.
