North Korea displayed what appeared to be new weapons at a military parade held Thursday evening, in the presence of leader Kim Jong Un, and the most prominent of what was revealed by a ballistic missile fired by submarines.

North Korea's news agency described the weapons that appeared during the parade as the most advanced strategic weapons in the country, most notably ballistic missiles.

The agency said, "The most powerful weapon in the world, namely the ballistic missile weapon launched by submarines, has entered the arena one by one to show the strength of the revolutionary armed forces."

Pictures released by state media showed at least 4 missiles with black and white warheads passing between a crowd waving flags.

And it was written on those missiles "Bukjokseong 5 ″, which may refer to an update of the" Bukjoksung 4 "missiles that were revealed during a larger military parade last October, according to Reuters.

Its most powerful nuclear weapon

The expert, Park Won Gunn of Handong Global University in South Korea described the missiles as "the strongest nuclear weapon of the North," according to what was reported by Agence France-Presse.

The offer came at the end of the ruling Workers' Party conference, in which North Korean leader Kim Jong Un described the United States as "the country's first enemy."

Kim, who appeared smiling and wearing a black leather coat and fur hat, supervised the show, which was held at Kim Il Sung Square in the center of the capital, Pyongyang.

Infantry and artillery forces, as well as tanks and rocket launchers, participated in the parade.

An air show was held by aircraft that formed the number 8 to celebrate the eighth conference of the party.

At the end of the show, trucks moved into the square and above what analysts described as new forms of short-range ballistic missiles and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.

Plans to produce a submarine

North Korea has tested a number of submarine-launched missiles, and analysts say it is seeking to build a submarine to carry the missiles.

The North Korean leader pledged to make every effort to strengthen his country's nuclear and missile program to counter what he described as American hostility.

He announced during his party's conference that his country had completed plans to produce a nuclear submarine, but that such a piece would not be operational for years.

The French Press Agency indicated that the ballistic missiles launched by submarines may allow Pyongyang to change its strategy as it enables it to launch a surprise attack near the United States, or even carry out a strike without the help of its ground forces.

North Korean media said the parade also presented missiles with "great striking force to completely eliminate enemies outside the borders."

This means that the weapons range far beyond the Korean Peninsula, and at least they can reach Japan.

However, Pyongyang did not reveal its ICBMs, which are believed to be capable of carrying a nuclear warhead anywhere in the United States, during the presentation.

This show of strength comes days before the inauguration of Joe Biden as President of the United States.

Kim Jong Un and outgoing US President Donald Trump exchanged insults and threats, before an unexpected rapprochement occurred between them, which included symbolic and historic meetings.

However, no progress was recorded in the talks regarding Pyongyang's nuclear and ballistic programs.

Negotiations have stalled since the failure of the second summit between Trump and the North Korean leader at the end of February 2019 in Hanoi.

One of the reasons for the failure was the lack of consensus on the concessions that North Korea is supposed to make in exchange for lifting the sanctions imposed on it.
