Rostock (dpa / mv) - A senior woman handed over 16,000 euros in cash to an alleged grandson in Rostock.
The stranger had contacted the 77-year-old by phone and claimed to be in financial distress due to a traffic accident, a police spokesman said on Friday.
The woman from the Rostock district drove to a bank branch after the call on Thursday and withdrew the money.
According to the spokesman, the bank employees had pointed out a possible grandchildren trick to the 77-year-old due to the amount withdrawn.
Nevertheless, she did not become suspicious and then handed over the 16,000 euros to the alleged grandson in Rostock.
