Berlin (dpa) - New name, new sound: 16 months after the end of the Lochis, the twins Heiko and Roman Lochmann (21) open a new chapter.

Under the band name HE / RO, the musicians released their first song “Siehst du mich” on Friday.

The brothers from Darmstadt are much more rocking than before.

The sound with drums and electric guitar is somewhat reminiscent of the German bands Echt and Tokio Hotel.

"We also wanted to do something that doesn't exist in Germany right now and didn't want to chase any trend," said Roman Lochmann of the German Press Agency.

In childhood, he and his brother were influenced by bands like Tokio Hotel or Linkin Park.

The 21-year-olds became known in 2011 through their YouTube channel Die Lochis.

The debut album “#Zwilling” made it to number one in the German charts in 2016.

In autumn 2019 the singers, who also work as actors, dissolved the successful project.

The search for a new band name was the biggest challenge.

“At best, this is the name we will be announced on stages for our whole life.

It was definitely a pressure.

In the end, we didn't want to think rationally and logically anymore, it just had to feel right. "

The name HE / RO is made up of the musicians' first names.

In addition, the English word «hero» means «Held» in German.

Their parents had also sent them some strange suggestions for names after they were on holiday in Spain: «For example« Sonaros », based on the Spanish word for sound.

Or "Torotorius" because we are of the zodiac sign Taurus.

But also «Hessen-Hero», because we come from Hessen.

That was pretty close, »said Heiko Lochmann with a laugh.
