Herne (dpa) - The unusual emergency call "My stolen pizza taxi is driving in front of me!"

has mobilized the police in the Ruhr area town of Herne.

The 31-year-old owner of a pizzeria, whose car had been stolen the day before and who now happened to see him on the street, had dropped him off, as a police spokesman in Bochum reported on Friday.

Police rushed to the restaurateur's help and stopped the vehicle.

At the wheel was a 39-year-old homeless man without a license who claimed to have used the car as a motorhome in the cold and stayed in it.

A breath test showed that the man had driven with 2.7 per thousand alcohol.

The officers handed the pizza taxi over to its rightful owner.
