Karlsruhe (dpa) - Coach Christian Eichner from the second division soccer club Karlsruher SC has warned against expecting a tired or complacent opponent Holstein Kiel after the cup surprise.

"We need a performance similar to that against Greuther Fürth, so as not only to bring dirty laundry from Kiel," said the 38-year-old before the away game on Sunday (1.30 p.m. / Sky).

Because the promotion candidate, who had won the cup on penalties against FC Bayern, is peppered with enormous game intelligence.

Against Fürth, the KSC had surprisingly prevailed 3-2.

In addition to striker Babacar Gueye (training deficit after corona disease) and left-back Dirk Carlson (back problems), winger Marco Djuricin will no longer take the eight-hour bus trip to Kiel.

"I was completely surprised by the exit," admitted Eichner on Friday.

The 28-year-old Austrian asked for his contract to be terminated earlier this week.

"We now have to see whether we have to do something, want to do it or in the end we can do it," said Eichner.

His team have shown that they are able to play an interesting role in this league.

"Still, the squad is not well equipped," he warned.

There are currently 21 players in training, two from the U19.
