France will "severely tighten" from Monday, January 18, the conditions for entry into its territory, in particular by requiring a negative test for Covid-19 for all travelers from a country outside the European Union.
The aim is to prevent the variant strain of the virus from progressing rapidly in the French population.

From this Monday, travelers coming from countries outside the European Union will first have to present a negative PCR test on departure and undertake on their honor to remain isolated for 7 days once they arrive in France.
At the end of these seven days, these travelers will have to present a second PCR test.
For countries where it is not possible to carry out a test before boarding, a consular pass will be granted by the French embassies for "compelling reasons".
A test will then be carried out on arrival followed by compulsory isolation for seven days in a hotel designated by the State.
These measures also concern French people returning from abroad.

Negative tests will also be required for flights from Guyana, Mayotte or Reunion, because of the risky variants of Covid-19 circulating in these regions.
Soon a concerted decision at European level
Regarding the countries of the European Union, including Ireland and Denmark, two countries very affected by the pandemic, nothing has yet been decided.
The decision will be concerted at European level, and will then be taken at a summit to be held next Thursday.
In the event of new measures for travelers from the European Union, there will in any case be exceptions with specific health protocols for cross-border workers, road carriers or agents of transport companies.
