Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Despite the tightened lockdown, the number of new infections with the corona virus in Brandenburg continues to rise.
The Ministry of Health announced on Friday in Potsdam that 1262 confirmed new cases were added within one day.
In the Potsdam-Mittelmark district alone there were 234 new corona infections.
The number of deaths related to Covid 19 disease remains high at 56 patients.
According to the ministry, around 16,800 people are currently ill.
As of December 27, 33,263 people in the country have received a vaccination against the coronavirus.
The vaccinations started slowly and the state government is trying to counteract this.
Brandenburg has a new Corona focus: the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district reported almost 417 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week.
The previous hotspot, the Elbe-Elster district, has an incidence value of just under 411.

13 districts and urban districts are still above a level of 200. From this level, stricter corona restrictions apply: Then, for example, tourist excursions and sports within a radius of 15 kilometers from the district boundary and meetings are prohibited.
