Güntersleben (dpa / lby) - They come back home with cut paws or cut off ears - some disappear: In Güntersleben in Lower Franconia, there is growing concern that an animal abuser is on the way.

A year ago, the first resident filed a complaint against unknown persons because of her injured hangover, as the police confirmed on Friday.

The "Main-Post" reported earlier.

After intensive investigations - among other things because of an offense against the Animal Welfare Act - the complaint was submitted to the public prosecutor's office in Würzburg against unknown persons.

According to the "Main-Post", a veterinarian found a cat that her cut paws look as if the injuries had been caused with a blade.

The injured animal had to be operated on after the incident in summer 2019.

One day before Christmas 2020 it disappeared again - since then there has been no trace.

The police cannot answer how many cats are missing in Güntersleben (Würzburg district).

"Not all missing cats are reported to the police and the police do not keep statistics about them," it said in a statement.

A disappearance does not necessarily have to be a criminal offense.

Investigations are difficult because the animals could live well elsewhere or run over and not have been found.

At the beginning of the week, three beheaded cats caused horror in southern Bavaria, in Neuburg an der Donau in Upper Bavaria.

There is nothing to suggest that it was an accident, but that someone beheaded her, said a police spokesman.

According to its own information, the Animal Welfare Association filed criminal charges against unknown persons and offered a reward of 2000 euros for tips.

Investigations have started.

At the beginning of January, a video caused a stir, on which a hunter killed a domestic cat caught in a live trap with several head shots.

After the incident in a forest near Zusmarshausen near Augsburg, the police are investigating possible violations of the Animal Welfare Act.
