Gelsenkirchen (AP) - The return of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to FC Schalke 04 is becoming more and more likely.
After scoring top runners Ajax Amsterdam with two goals in the final minutes to make it 3-1 over FC Twente, the 37-year-old striker confirmed the Gelsenkircheners' interest on Thursday evening.
"Schalke 04 asked Ajax about me," said Huntelaar in a TV interview with ESPN.
The Dutchman said he could "imagine it", but wanted to "sleep on it for another night" and then discuss it with Ajax.
It will be "a difficult decision, but I think Ajax will allow me".
Ajax coach Erik ten Hag also knows about the interest of the penultimate in the Bundesliga.
