Stralsund / Lage (dpa) - One year after her disappearance, the police still have no trace of a woman who was last working in the red light district in Stralsund.

As a police spokeswoman said on Friday, according to the current state of the investigation, the 57-year-old was probably a victim of a homicide.

Among other things, the condition of the apartment that she had used in Stralsund and that had been rented for prostitution purposes speaks for this.

The woman from Thailand lived outside of her work in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in Lage in the Lippe district (North Rhine-Westphalia) and has been missing since January 16, 2020.

Shortly after her disappearance, relatives in North Rhine-Westphalia submitted a missing person report.

"So far, we have no evidence that the 57-year-old has left the Stralsund / Rügen region," said the police spokeswoman.

After the publication of mug shots, there were several clues that did not lead to the wanted one either.

Search operations in and around Stralsund and on Rügen with boats, helicopters and corpse tracking dogs did not result in a breakthrough in the investigation.

Surveys in Thailand also had nothing new.

Now the investigators hope to continue to receive clues from the people's surroundings.
