Super Mario's entry into the theme park world will have to wait: the opening of the Nintendo space at Universal Studios Japan (USJ) has been postponed again as Japan suffers its third wave of Covid infections -19.

The eagerly awaited "Super Nintendo World" was initially due to see the light of day in the huge amusement park located in Osaka (west) last July to coincide with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

After the postponement of these for a year because of the pandemic, the opening of the park was then set for February 4.

But the state of emergency in force in greater Tokyo since last week was extended Wednesday to seven other departments, including Osaka.

Apologizing to fans, USJ clarified Thursday that a new date will be announced after the end of the state of emergency, currently scheduled until February 7.

In addition to a roller coaster "Mario Kart", the Nintendo space at USJ Park should offer visitors a ride inspired by the friendly green dinosaur Yoshi or interactive attractions where visitors can hit blocks to earn coins.
