The Ministry of Health warns of a medical product that may be contaminated with bacteria

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection has warned of a medicinal product, due to the possibility of contamination with bacteria, and called on all health facilities and health care practitioners in the private sector to take the necessary measures regarding it.

In detail, the Ministry of Health and Community Protection issued a circular directed to all health authorities in the country, warning of a number of medicinal uses of the medicinal product "Paroex® Chlorhexidine Gluconate Oral Rinse USP, 0.12%" due to the possibility of contamination of the product with "Burkholderia Lata" bacteria, which may endanger the health of its users.

According to the ministry, the affected batches of the drug carry the code "1789p and 1788p" and all the batches that carry an expiration date from the date of 12/31-2020, until the date of 9/30-2022.

The Ministry confirmed that the product is not registered in its Drug Administration, and recommended the concerned authorities to take the necessary measures regarding withdrawing the product, if available.

It requested its users to contact the ministry via the link PV@moh.gov.ae, in case of any side effects, and to report them.
