Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria's state theaters in Munich, Nuremberg and Augsburg will remain closed at least until the end of February.

Even before the decision on an extension of the current general lockdown in trade, gastronomy, culture and sport, the directors agreed in a conversation with Science Minister Bernd Sibler (CSU) that their houses should be closed until February 28th.

Sibler called that on Thursday evening a “correct, albeit painful, decision”.

In mid-February, the ministry wants to consult with the theaters on how to proceed from March 1st. The decision affects the State Opera, State Theater and Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich and the State Theaters in Nuremberg and Augsburg - there “subject to the approval of the foundation committees,” as the report said. Their veto is not to be expected.
