EELV MEP Yannick Jadot, potential presidential candidate, again pleaded Thursday for a single candidate, environmentalist, bringing together the Left and Greens in 2022, judging that the social democracy carried by the PS and Anne Hidalgo has "reached its limits".

While Anne Hidalgo and Arnaud Montebourg have taken one step closer to a candidacy for 2022 in recent days, Yannick Jadot has once again called on France Inter for "the gathering of social and political forces located between Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Emmanuel Macron ", considering that" we will have to bring together everyone, Arnaud Montebourg, Christiane Taubira, Anne Hidalgo, the ecological family, the humanists ".

Asked about the differences between his positioning and that of Mrs. Hidalgo, he judged that the mayor of Paris is "a very important elected representative, a figure of the Socialist Party", recognizing that the Social Democracy, which "there are still four years ruled this country "," evolves ", thanks to" the work done by Olivier Faure ", the boss of the Socialist Party.

"We have changed times with the Social Democracy", which "has proved its richness", he added.

But "it has also found its limits" according to him, and "today in the face of the climate emergency, the explosion of pandemics, climatic catastrophes, the decline in biodiversity, the frustration of the republican promise, the force of 'future in this country is ecology ", he assured:" faced with such crises (...), we can no longer be in half-measures ", he insisted. by arguing that he has been "an environmentalist for thirty years".

"Our ecology is not just that of town centers, it is the ecology of small towns and medium-sized towns, it is the ecology of neighborhoods, it is the ecology of the countryside", he also defended.

Faced with deforestation and intensive farming responsible for triggering pandemics, he pleaded for Europe to stop imports of products from deforestation.

And to fight against global warming, he proposed "that each euro of public money, exemption from contributions, public aid, public contracts, be conditioned on respect for the climate".
