It seems that the new Omnéo-Bombardier trainsets have a major flaw.

Passengers on a train connecting Paris to Caen were stranded for 5 hours on Tuesday, reports

France 3 Normandie

.

Leaving Saint-Lazare station at 5 p.m., travelers arrived in Caen at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday after having to change trains.

Some passengers going to the English Channel had to end their journey by coach.

Due to the SNCF protocol, travelers had to wait inside the wagons, without eating or drinking, creating certain tensions.

[FEEDBACK ON THE 3319 FAILURE ON 12/01/2021]

Yesterday evening, the Omneo train departing from PSL suffered from a damaged pantograph.

Several questions arise about the management of this incident.

Getting out of the “railway Middle Ages”?

It is a failure on the pantographs, the elements allowing the electric supply of the train, which would be at the origin of this mishap.

Other similar failures have already been observed.

The association of Users of Paris-Caen-Cherbourg (Udupc) had already been alerted by "worried railway workers" after a similar breakdown between Paris and Le Havre on October 1.

Put into service gradually for a few months, the new Omnéo-Bombardier trains were to allow Norman travelers, overwhelmed by delays and breakdowns of this kind, to get out of "the Middle Ages of railways".

This is what Hervé Morin said after his election as President of the Normandy Region in 2015.
