Window of opportunity

In a related context, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that his country is determined to continue to keep the window of opportunities open for a viable, comprehensive, lasting and peaceful political solution in Libya.

In a statement on Turkish foreign policy over the past year to the World Press Magazine, Cavusoglu indicated that Turkey supports the UN-led political process in Libya.

He added that the preliminary results of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum were positive, welcoming the parties' decision to hold elections next December.

Cavusoglu stressed the need to protect the ceasefire in Libya, and that Turkey had rejected from the outset efforts to impose a military solution to the conflict.

He explained that if Turkey had not ensured the balance, Libya would have been plunged into chaos by obstructing the political process for a long time.
