On the evening of January 8, an avalanche came down near the Otdelnaya Mountain ski complex near Norilsk, and five houses were covered with snow.

As a result of the emergency, three people died: a 38-year-old woman, her one and a half-year-old child and a 45-year-old man. 

Rescuers also removed a 15-year-old teenager from under the snow.

The Investigative Committee opened a case under the article on the provision of services that did not meet safety requirements, and later re-qualified the case for a more serious article.

In addition, a negligence case was initiated, and an operative duty officer of the city administration was detained.

According to the investigation, the forecast of possible emergencies was sent by the Ministry of Emergency Situations to the unified dispatch service of Norilsk on December 30, 2020, however, the operational duty officer did not include information on avalanche danger in the operational report.
