The alarm operator Tunstall changed platform to receive security alarms on October 7, 2020 and this led to major problems in the form of delays.
In Luleå, a person alerted eight times without getting in touch with the municipality and when the night patrol arrived at the home five hours after the first alarm, she had died and her family has reported the incident to the police.
"A reasonable claim"
And Luleå municipality has now changed alarm operator to SOS-Alarm and is also demanding SEK 2.25 million in compensation and fines from the previous supplier, Tunstall.
- We think it is a reasonable claim, because it is these costs we have had.
Half of the sum relates to costs for extra staff that we had to take in to guarantee security for those who have security alarms and their families, says department head Ida Johansson.
She is still deeply upset about the consequences of the alarm chaos among the 1,600 people in Luleå who have security alarms.
"It's awful"
- It is terrible what happened last autumn with the entire alarm chain in Luleå municipality.
Now we want a good ending with Tunstall.
They have ten days to get in touch and after that we will send an invoice with a 30-day payment period, says Ida Johansson.
SVT has sought those responsible at Tunstall, without succeeding in reaching them, but this is what CEO Johan Lenander said in an interview in mid-October about the municipalities' compensation claims:
“It is extremely sad that this has happened and we will review each case with our municipalities and customers and look at our agreements in a joint dialogue.
So I can not comment on anything beyond that. "
