Dresden (dpa / sn) - The AfD wants to bring violence, bullying and cyber-bullying at Saxon schools into the state parliament.

The parliamentary group presented a corresponding request on Thursday.

Previously, the MP Rolf Weigand had repeatedly made small inquiries on these topics.

“The incidents of violence at secondary schools in central Saxony doubled from 2017 to 2019.

In the same period, there were a total of 179 reported cases of violence, threats and death threats, bodily harm, mobbing and cyber-bullying, ”Weigand explained.

The number of unreported cases will be significantly higher.

There are initial findings that cases of cyber bullying in particular would increase significantly during the current school closings.

In Weigand's view, the topic must henceforth be incorporated more strongly into teacher training and be an integral part of the compulsory training days for teachers: "This is the only way for teachers to recognize these problems at an early stage and take preventive measures."
