Statistical data issued by the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai showed that the expected average annual number of visitors for each of the "Metro Line 2020" stations, which was operational early this year, will reach 4.5 million people.

The authority announced many innovative designs that it adopted in implementing the route project, in a way that ensures the provision of facilities inside the stations that facilitate the movement of passengers and their service, in accordance with the best service and environmental standards, by increasing the capacity of the stations by expanding the elevator lines, meeting sites, and increasing the number of gates. Entry and exit, as well as the project's provision of about 1,800 square meters of leasable commercial space to provide services to passengers.

According to the authority, the stations of the "Path of 2020" project will open new horizons for investment through spaces designated for commercial stores in each station of the project, which will constitute the ideal location for business opportunities, given the number of metro passengers, which exceeds 10,000 people at peak hours.

The metro service was launched hours after New Year at four stations on the "Metro 2020 route", known as the "Expo route", because it extends its seven stations to the site of the International Expo, which was postponed by a decision of the International Organizing Committee for the Expo. »Due to the circumstances of the Corona pandemic, to be held in October of this year.

"Route 2020" metro rides now depart from the Jebel Ali Interchange Station, which is like two connected stations located in one location, one of which is located on the red line of the metro, transporting passengers towards Nakheel station, and the other is located on the "Metro Route 2020", to carry passengers towards the station Expo.

The metro service was launched on the morning of January 1, at Jebel Ali Station, Al Hadaek Station, Discovery Gardens Station and Al Furjan Station, so the journey from Jebel Ali Station to Al Furjan Station took no more than six minutes.

The length of the Expo Path is 15 km, of which 11.8 km above the surface of the earth and 3.2 km under the surface of the earth.

The route serves densely populated areas with an estimated population of more than 270,000, and the expected number of riders per day for the route is about 125,000, and it will increase to 275,000 passengers by 2030.
