The Kalininsky District Court of Ufa sentenced 34-year-old Ufa resident Vladimir Sankin to eight years in a strict regime colony, who was accused of murdering a 54-year-old pedophile.

As the man himself claimed, he was just trying to protect the teenagers who turned to him for help, and was not going to cause serious harm to anyone.

The charge of robbery

Earlier, RT talked about the criminal case against Vladimir Sankin, which was initiated after the events of January 30, 2020.

As follows from the materials of the court, that day Sankin was returning from work from a car repair shop.

When he passed a two-story house, a 14-year-old boy ran out of the entrance and said that a man was holding his friend in his apartment and wanted to abuse him.

After that, the man went up to the apartment, freed the child, and the alleged rapist, 54-year-old Vladimir Zaitsev, dragged him out into the street to talk.

A fight ensued, after which the landlord was left lying on the ground.

Sankin himself called an ambulance and the police.

On the way to the hospital, Zaitsev died.

Sankin was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of house arrest.

The investigation began.

Later, the suspect was charged under Part 1 of Art.

105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder") and under clause "c" of Part 4 of Art.

162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Robbery”).

The law enforcers considered that after the fight, the man stole the money he had with Zaitsev.

In December 2020, the jury dropped the robbery charges against Sankin, but found him guilty of beating, which subsequently led to the death of Zaitsev.

At the same time, the jury noted that Sankin saved the children and "deserves leniency."

Tough sentence

According to the man's lawyer Shota Gorgadze, after such a jury's verdict, they counted on a short term or even full acquittal and were shocked by the verdict.

“I have questions, why did the court pass such a harsh sentence with the obvious fact of protecting children?

In a situation where Sankin walked past our children, would the sentence be the same?

If I were in Sankin's place, I would have done the same, even knowing about the eight-year sentence, "RT Gorgadze said.

He added that Sankin was charged with robbery without proof, therefore, this charge was dropped in court.

In addition, during the trial, testimony was given by boys whom Zaitsev, threatening with an ax, lured into the apartment.

“Unfortunately, when mentioning Zaitsev’s convictions, the judge stopped us, said that it had nothing to do with the case, and asked the jury not to pay attention to it.

Legally, she is right, because this creates a negative attitude of the jury towards Zaitsev.

But the fact that he was twice convicted and served eight years for the rape of a child is a significant moment, ”the lawyer stressed.

The lawyer assured that he would definitely appeal the verdict and intend to go to the Supreme Court.

In turn, Sankina's sister Christina told RT that she was shocked by the court's verdict: “This is a system.

They wanted to put him in prison and put him in prison.

Nobody understood why this happened.

People who kill two or three people are given seven years.

And he prevented the crime - and sat down.

We are all on pills now and think that the Supreme Court is unlikely to overturn the verdict. "

As Sankina's common-law wife Polina Naumova told RT earlier, her husband was always responsive to someone else's misfortune and two years before the January events of 2020 pulled the children out of the fire.

Has been tried repeatedly

We add that immediately after the arrest of Sankin, law enforcement officers opened a criminal case against the deceased Vladimir Zaitsev under Part 5 of Art.

135 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Depraved acts committed by a person who has a criminal record for a previously committed crime against the sexual inviolability of a minor").

However, it was closed due to the death of the suspect.

RT said that Vladimir Zaitsev was repeatedly convicted.

He received his first conviction at the age of 18.

In 1983 he was sentenced to four years and seven months in prison under Part 2 of Art.

121 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR ("Sodomy").

After his release, for a long time he did not fall into the field of sight of law enforcement officers, but in 2003 Zaitsev was caught several times in the company of minors drinking alcoholic beverages.

But then they could not prove the harassment and sentenced the man to a year of correctional labor and withholding 20% of his salary at the expense of the state under Part 1 of Art.

151 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Involvement of a minor in the commission of antisocial acts").

In 2007, Zaitsev was arrested on charges of sexual acts with the use of violence against a person known to be under the age of 14.

According to local media reports, he raped his own son.

On December 27, 2007, the man was sentenced to 11 years in prison in a strict regime colony.

He was serving his term in PKU IK-7 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Bashkortostan and was characterized as insecure, touchy, prone to depression and anxiety.

Was prone to solitude and had difficulties in interpersonal relationships.

On October 3, 2018, Zaitsev was released.

By the decision of the Meleuzovsky District Court of the Republic of Bashkortostan dated June 27, 2018, supervision was established over him for a period of eight years.

The man was forbidden to leave the house from 22:00 to 7:00 and change his place of residence without notice.

Zaitsev had to report to the police four times a month.

Also, FSIN officers reported that the likelihood of a second crime was high.

After his release, Zaitsev was twice brought to administrative responsibility for petty hooliganism.

He was forbidden to approach schools and city parks.
