Iranian television announced the launch of the Iranian army’s naval maneuvers in the Sea of Oman, while Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that his country had defeated the US policy of maximum pressure.

Iranian television said, "The army began naval maneuvers today, Wednesday, with short-range missiles," noting that the first day of the exercises witnessed the demonstration of the Makran warship, a support and support ship, in the presence of the army chiefs and the chief of staff of the armed forces.

The maneuvers of coastal and sea operations units include launching of marine surface-to-surface cruise missiles, torpedoes firing from homemade submarines, as well as drone operations.

The Iranian army announced that the Makran ship is capable of carrying 82,000 tons of military equipment and military helicopters.

It is reported that the Iranian army announced earlier that it would also display the destroyer "Zereh" (Zereh) during these exercises.

"These maneuvers are taking place without prior announcement, as the units deployed in the maneuvering area in a very short time since the participating units were notified," said the spokesman for the naval exercises, Admiral Hamzah Ali Kawiani.

In turn, the Iranian president stressed that the United States is witnessing a political and social failure, at a time when Iran is witnessing a victory over the US policy of maximum pressure, as he put it.

He added during the Iranian government meeting that circumstances will change in the coming months, and that the Biden administration will not be able to continue the policies of the previous administration.

Iran has one of the largest missile programs in the Middle East, and considers such weapons an important deterrent and force to respond to the United States and other opponents in the event of war.

The West considers Iranian missiles a conventional military threat to regional stability, and also a potential means of carrying nuclear weapons if Tehran develops them.

Tensions have escalated between the United States and Iran since 2018, when US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal signed in 2015.

The United States has re-imposed tighter sanctions to pressure Iran to negotiate tighter restrictions on its nuclear program, ballistic missile development and support for proxy forces in the region.
