Munich (dpa / lby) - The FFP2 mask requirement in buses, trains and shops in Bavaria will only apply to young people aged 15 and over.

Children up to and including 14 years are excluded.

This was announced by Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) in Munich on Wednesday.

The cabinet decided on the FFP2 mask requirement on Tuesday.

Starting next Monday, simple community masks, but also simple medical mouth and nose protection, will be banned in buses, trains and shops in the Free State.

According to Söders, the goal is even greater protection against the spread of the corona virus.

In the first week, however, no sanctions and fines should be imposed, said Söder - he spoke of a "goodwill week".

According to experts, common mouth and nose protection can protect other people, and FFP2 masks - used correctly - also protect the wearer.
