Berlin (dpa) - The Northeast Regional Football League should extend its current break due to the coronavirus pandemic until the end of February.

A corresponding working group agreed on this proposal for the gaming committee at a video conference on Wednesday.

"A continuation of gaming operations in February 2021 is not responsible due to the current social conditions," said the NOFV gaming committee chairman Uwe Dietrich in a message.

On January 27, the AG wants to confer again and make suggestions for the continuation of gaming operations.

"The NOFV would like to resume play in the Regionalliga Nordost as soon as possible, provided that it is feasible and in compliance with hygiene regulations," said the announcement, which also called for financial aid.

"Due to the framework conditions of the regional leagues, as the fourth highest transnational and semi-professional league of German football, clubs and associations expect to expand the Corona aid for professional sport to the regional leagues," it said.
