Munich (dpa / lby) - The Bavarian child and youth psychiatrist has urged the state government in an open letter to consider mentally ill and developmentally retarded children in the emergency care in daycare centers and schools.

Care in the morning and in the afternoon is also important for the children of mentally ill parents, emphasized the Bavarian State Association of the Professional Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy in Munich on Wednesday.

As the lockdown progresses, the overload in the affected families will worsen.

"Mental tension with a lack of daily structuring leads to increased emotional stress and an increase in problematic symptoms for those affected with no alternatives or alternative solutions," the experts explained.

For this reason, support in structuring learning and the day must be continuously guaranteed.

In the Free State, the students have been completely in distance lessons since the end of the Christmas holidays, day care centers and daycare centers are officially closed.

Emergency care can essentially only be used if "parents cannot provide care in any other way, especially if they have to go about their work".
