François Bayrou, his long-time friend and founder of the centrist movement MoDem, made the announcement this Wednesday evening.
Marielle de Sarnez, MP and former minister, is dead.
Right arm of François Bayrou, she was the first vice-president of the Democratic Movement (MoDem).
Member of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2017, she sat in the ALDE group and served as Secretary General of the European Democratic Party.
In 2019, she was indicted in the case of parliamentary assistants of the Democratic Movement in the European Parliament.
