A new head has been decorating Eduardo Bolsonaro's Twitter profile for a few days.

The son of the right-wing populist President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro has replaced his own image with that of the elected US President Donald Trump.

The family clan counters the blocking of Trump's Twitter account on social networks with screenshots of direct or indirect calls for violence against Bolsonaro.

Eduardo Bolsonaro presents his followers with newspaper articles or posts that show critics of Bolsonaro with his father's severed head.

And still be allowed to post on Twitter.

The criticism is not entirely absurd: Bolsonaro was the victim of a knife attack by a mentally confused attacker with contacts in the left scene in the 2018 election campaign.

In the past, however, the Bolsonaro clan itself used social networks for indirect calls for violence against those who think differently or for the targeted degradation of critics.

For example, Bolsonaro's son Carlos presented a clip of his father's cheering supporters during target practice.

Donald Trump's election defeat hit the family hard.

Jair Bolsonaro is internationally recognized as one of the US President's closest allies.

Bolsonaro copied his model Trump in style and ideology and took advice from Trump's former mentor Steve Bannon.

Like Trump, he has a huge following on the social networks with which he is in direct contact: Instagram 18 million, Facebook 11 million, Twitter 6.6 million.

The fifth largest country in the world will be the world's most powerful incumbent Trumpist next week.

Absolute loyalty to Trump

It was followed with excitement how Bolsonaro positioned himself after the attack on the Capitol in Washington and the subsequent Twitter ban of Trump.

The strategy now seems clear: The Bolsonaro clan relies on absolute loyalty to Trump and radicalization.

A change of course is not in sight.

In a post via Instagram, which has since been deleted, Bolsonaro advised his followers to switch to the Parler social network, which is popular with right-wing extremists.

In the meantime, Parler is no longer available.

Amazon had announced that it would no longer let Parler use its cloud services.

Similar to Trump, Jair Bolsonaro sees himself as a victim of election fraud - and has not presented any evidence

After the Twitter ban, Bolsonaro's sons demonstratively stand behind the elected US president and cultivate his victim myth.

The right to free speech and expression is at risk.

Eduardo Bolsonaro posted a video of empty ammunition shelves in a US supermarket five days after the storm on the Capitol.

In fact, for the first time since Trump's defeat in November, the Twitter and Parler ban offers the Bolsonaro camp the opportunity to warm up the victim legend of the fight against the establishment.

"You know how close I am to Trump," Bolsonaro said a few days ago in an interview in Brasilia.

There are numerous reports of electoral fraud in the US elections.

There was also a fraud attempt in his own election in 2018, he actually won the election in the first round, said Bolsonaro, who then prevailed in a runoff election against the left-wing candidate Fernando Haddad.

The Brazilian president - like Trump - was unable to provide any evidence for the fraud allegations.

Bolsonaro is already questioning the next ballot in 2022.

With regard to the planned electronic voting, Bolsonaro said: If there are no printed ballots in 2022 to check the result, "we will have worse problems than in the US".

His critics see this as an indirect threat.

Initial voices are already calling for impeachment proceedings to be initiated against the Brazilian head of state.

Not on good terms with Joe Biden

How will Brazil's relationship with the US develop under Trump's successor Joe Biden?

In the election campaign, Biden had announced that he would do more to preserve the Amazon rainforest and make Bolsonaro responsible.

Its government in turn sees it as an interference in the internal affairs of Brazil.

The Bolsonaro government wants to make parts of the rainforest economically viable for the agricultural industry and mining.

The anti-climate policy has sidelined the government in Brasilia in terms of foreign policy.

Brazilian foreign policy has fallen out with the future US government as well as with the European Union and China.

Bolsonaro suffered a first low blow from the USA this week.

The US carmaker Ford announced that it would close its plants in Brazil and reposition itself in Latin America.

This not only means that thousands of jobs are being lost in Brazil, the Bolsonaro government is also encountering one of its most important brands: economic policy.

When making a decision of such magnitude and symbolism, heads of state usually try to intervene, but Bolsonaro lacks the contact person.

Trump is busy questioning the legitimacy of being voted out of office.

And according to reports, the Bolsonaro warehouse has not yet found a connection to Joe Biden's new team.

It fits into the picture that a few days ago Brazil's Foreign Minister Ernesto Araujo proudly informed his followers on Twitter about another topic instead of diplomatic successes: “I'm with Parler too,” he wrote.
