A judicial investigation was opened, and two people were placed in pre-trial detention, after the seizure of a ton of narcotics, on January 8, by customs officers in Montpellier (Hérault), indicates the Marseille prosecutor's office (Bouches-du -Rhône), this Wednesday, in a press release.

On the A9 motorway, in a semi-trailer from Spain, 878 kilos of cannabis resin and 150 kilos of cannabis herb had been found.

9.5 million euros in narcotics

The drugs had been discovered by customs officers in the middle of the goods contained in the trailer of the heavy truck.

The total value of the drug seized is estimated at 9.5 million euros on the illicit drug resale market, according to the prosecution.

The two drivers, both employees of a transport company, were arrested.

The investigations will now continue "in order to identify the other members of this network," continues the Marseille prosecutor's office.
