The men's alpine skiing World Cup events scheduled for this weekend in the prestigious resort of Kitzbühel (Austria) are canceled after the discovery of 17 cases of Covid-19 possibly linked to the English variant, the governor of the region announced on Wednesday. .
"For safety reasons, we don't want these Wengen races to take place in Kitzbühel this weekend," said Günther Platter.
The Swiss resort of Wengen was initially supposed to host a stage this weekend and Kitzbühel had adapted its program to accommodate two slaloms on Saturday and Sunday, in addition to its traditional meeting the following weekend.
