Potsdam (dpa / bb) - According to the state government, the corona vaccine supplied by the US manufacturer Moderna to Brandenburg can be used despite initial fears of cooling problems.

"In summary, it is stated that the quality of the vaccines should not have been affected by the temperature fluctuations and the transport and the vaccines can be used safely," said Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) on Wednesday in the health committee of the state parliament and quoted from an information that she had just received.

According to the Minister, the Moderna vaccine was delivered to Berlin and Brandenburg from the central depot of the federal government on Tuesday.

"Our Berlin colleagues have informed us that problems with the cold chain may have occurred during transport," she said.

"That is why, together with Berlin, we arranged for an inspection at the manufacturer, at the Federal Ministry of Health."

The Federal Ministry of Health had previously given the all-clear.

"The quality of the vaccines was not affected by the transport, and the vaccines can be used safely," said a spokesman on request on Wednesday in Berlin.

Accordingly, the distribution centers of the two federal states have already been informed of this by the Bundeswehr responsible for vaccine logistics.
