At 18.00 tonight, the Swedish Transport Administration hopes that train traffic will start.

This is partly about the Ådal line and the Bothnia line between Sundsvall and Umeå, which were closed already on Monday evening.

It is also hoped to be able to open for traffic on the stretch between Bräcke and Vännäs, where a derailed locomotive, frozen gears and a pulled overhead line made up for it in train traffic during the night until Tuesday.

"Bad with information"

According to the train operator Vy, about 60 passengers on a night train were stranded in Ånge when the train in front of them derailed.

One of those who sat on the train is the hip-hop artist Magnus "Kitok" Ekelund who is about to move from Stockholm to Jokkmokk.

Normally, the journey takes around 14 hours.

- We'll see if it takes three days instead.

Now they have said that the trains will be running at 18. But I do not know, it has snowed quite a lot.

That's what it is, it's winter and Norrland, it's not like I bark at the train staff but I think the information from Vy could have been better.

"Worried about getting infected"

Right now, train passengers are housed in a hotel in Ånge.

The latest offer from Vy is that the stranded passengers will be bussed on to their destinations.

But Magnus Ekelund does not think that solution is good.

- 80 km by bus is long and I have back problems.

We will have a hard time keeping our distance, you sit so close in a bus.

I talked to an older man who is very worried that he will be infected with corona.

Now I hope that the train traffic will start so I can go up via Sundsvall instead.

"Will sit sparsely"

The buses are a way to solve the situation when it is still so unclear if and when the railway can open, says Christer Berglund, business manager at Vy.

- We try to solve a situation and create security for travelers.

We see it as better to take the bus the last bit to your destination than to be stuck in Ånge because it is unclear when train traffic is running again.

Some people worry about the spread of infection on the bus?

- We have ordered so many buses so that passengers can sit sparsely, with one person per double seat.

We are responsible for arranging a compensation solution, if you do not want to take a bus, you can complain about the trip according to the rules that exist.
