Ukraine's efforts to organize an international summit to discuss the possibility of regaining control over Crimea will not bring any real results to Kiev.

This opinion was expressed by the head of the working group on international legal issues at the permanent mission of the Crimea under the President of the Russian Federation Alexander Molokhov.

“Speaking about the upcoming modality of the Crimean Platform, Mr. Kuleba (Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. -

) runs the risk of turning this event, at best, into a bunch of 'pique vests' sitting out.

By imposing its mossy agenda on the invited participants, Kiev is acting in strict accordance with the old adage on the principle “eat, dear guests, all the same to the dogs to throw out,” RIA Novosti quotes Molokhov as saying.

He believes that not a single authoritative expert will come to Ukraine to discuss the issue of Crimea's ownership "even at gunpoint."

Thus, Molokhov commented on the words of Dmitry Kuleba, who the other day in an interview with the Ukrainian newspaper Obozrevatel said that Kiev is ready to invite the Russian delegation to the summit of the so-called "Crimean Platform" - an international platform created by Kiev, where the Ukrainian authorities intend to discuss the "return" of the peninsula under their jurisdiction.

“Let them come.

We need a negotiation process for the return of Crimea.

There will be only one issue on the agenda of the talks - the modality of Russia's withdrawal from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and the restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and jurisdiction in this territory.

We will not discuss any other issues with them.

I invite you! "

- said Kuleba in response to a question about the possible participation of the Russian Federation in this event.

Natalia Poklonskaya, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, also commented on the activity of Kiev around the "Crimean Platform".

She called this summit a dubious event, the goal of which is to seize the territory of a sovereign state - Russia.

“Potential participants in this summit should understand this well.

If they take part in the preparation of the "Crimean Platform" and the discussion of relevant issues, they must understand that this is a crime against the Crimeans, against the Russian Federation and its people, "Poklonskaya said at a press conference in Simferopol.

In her opinion, it would be more expedient to devote a summit of this kind to the theme of the coup d'etat in Ukraine, which took place in 2014.

“I have a lot to tell and remind about why and from whom people in Crimea were forced to defend their lives on their own, while in Kiev some former“ regionals ”and starting diplomats, such as Dmitry Kuleba, who patriotically swore allegiance to the bandits who seized power as a result of a coup d'état, divided the cabinets, ”said Poklonskaya.

In turn, State Duma deputy from Crimea Ruslan Balbek said that there is nothing to discuss within the framework of the Crimean Platform.

“We have something to discuss with Ukraine, but Crimea is not included in the list of these issues.

If they want to invite us to talk about a thaw in relations, about the restoration of trade ties, then this is a topic, but to talk about Crimea is without us.

We have already expressed our point of view, "the deputy emphasized in an interview with RT.

The parliamentarian noted that no matter how this "platform" expands, Crimea will remain part of the Russian Federation.

“However, I think that this new format will not last long ... The participants of the platform will scatter to solve more pressing and important issues,” Balbek believes.

Kiev "platform"

Recall that the Ukrainian authorities refuse to recognize the results of the 2014 referendum on the status of the region, in which the overwhelming majority of Crimeans spoke in favor of the return of the peninsula to Russia.

Back in 2015, Pavel Klimkin, who was then head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, announced plans to create an international format for Crimea.

According to Kiev's plan, it should have included countries and organizations ready to help Ukraine in this matter.

However, these intentions were not realized.

This idea received new life after Vladimir Zelensky came to power.

In early December 2020, Dmitry Kuleba spoke at the OSCE site about the priorities of the "Crimean Platform" being created.

Within this format, Kiev intends to discuss such topics as security, freedom of navigation, "ensuring the effectiveness of sanctions restrictions against the aggressor state," by which Ukrainian officials mean Russia, and overcoming "the negative impact of the temporary occupation of Crimea on the economy and the environment."

Later, Kuleba promised to sharply increase international pressure on Russia on the Crimean issue.

According to him, the main instrument of Kiev in this direction should be the "Crimean Platform".

Within its framework, Kiev intends to hold a summit, which was originally supposed to take place in February 2021, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed to May.

According to Kuleba, a number of countries have allegedly already expressed their readiness to participate in the summit.

At the same time, he did not specify exactly which states we are talking about: "We are still talking and finally finalizing with them and other partners the meaning of what we are putting there."

At the moment, there is no information about the possible participation of foreign leaders in the May summit.

Kiev also stated that they are studying the possibility of using the mechanisms of the UN Human Rights Council in the work of the "Crimean Platform".

First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova discussed this issue on December 9 via video link with the British Ambassador for Human Rights Rita French.

Moscow is skeptical about Ukraine's initiative.

So, according to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, for now, talking about this project is like "discussing the volume and beauty of a soap bubble."

Zakharova stressed that if on this platform they discuss the restoration of the water supply to Crimea and the supply of electricity, the lifting of the transport and trade blockade, then Russia will not object to such cooperation.

“However, if Kiev is going to play on its“ platform ”the old melody about“ de-occupation ”, then this format does not interest us.

The issue of Crimea's ownership was resolved by the Crimeans themselves in 2014, "the diplomat said in an interview with the Crimean Journal.

The question is closed

According to experts, Kuleba's "invitation" should not be taken seriously, since Kiev is well aware that the activities of the "Crimean Platform" will be purely anti-Russian, which means Moscow will not participate in it.

“This invitation cannot be regarded as a serious statement of a responsible politician.

This is nothing more than an element of a propaganda campaign on the part of Ukraine.

Initiatives of this kind do not paint a diplomat, since this is not a serious statement, but diplomatic trolling, since the goal of this “platform” is anti-Russian propaganda, ”said Vladimir Shapovalov, deputy director of the Institute of History and Politics at Moscow State Pedagogical University.

At the same time, analysts believe that the activities of the site created by Kiev are unlikely to pose any threat to Russia.

"This is just a rather inept element of an information war against Russia from Ukraine and the West," Shapovalov said in a conversation with RT.

Political scientist and economist Alexander Dudchak adheres to a similar point of view: “The activities of the Crimean Platform will not be able to create a significant threat to the Russian Federation, as well as bring the result Ukraine needs.

The idea of creating such a summit was initially stillborn.

Russia will not discuss anything with anyone there. "

In turn, Shapovalov noted that Kiev should use such platforms to discuss other topics, since it is pointless to discuss the status of Crimea after the referendum held there.

“There are other topics that require consideration.

For example, the humanitarian situation in the south-east of Ukraine, violation of human rights by the Ukrainian state and law enforcement agencies against the population of the DPR and LPR.

And the issue with Crimea is closed.

There is a decision that was made by the population of the peninsula in an absolutely democratic way.

In the course of those events, historical justice was restored, so there is nothing to discuss here, ”Shapovalov concluded.
