The municipal board decided to refer the matter back to the board in order to put it back in the municipality's school investigation indefinitely.

The proposal to close the school has received criticism from both parents and school staff and a name collection has been carried out in protest.

"Too small a school"

Today, 42 children go to school, which has a total of 60 student places.

Already today, families in the Genevad School's catchment area have chosen to let about 20 children start in other schools in the municipality.

Åke Hantoft (C), chairman of the Children and Youth Committee, regrets the development in the matter.

- Students need good premises and stimulating teaching, it is very important.

This is too small a school for that, says Åke Hantoft.

At the same time, he believes that it is only a matter of time before a closure of the Geneva School is lifted again.
