Some researchers question the image that schools do not spread the infection, while other researchers believe that children rarely become seriously ill and that schools do not spread the infection.

The latter research line is the line that the Public Health Agency has chosen to follow.

- The overall picture is that, especially the younger children in the schools, are not the ones who run the pandemic to a greater extent and they extremely rarely get sick, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell.

Bad effects

The state epidemiologist instead highlights how the children could be negatively affected if the schools had closed.

- On the other hand, it is clear that closing schools has bad effects.

So in that scale, the children's best weigh heavier than the possible small spread of infection that it could cause.

Does not spread further

The fact that the spread of the coronavirus before Christmas among teenagers was as high as among adults does not necessarily mean that schools should be closed, says Anders Tegnell.

- Here they have looked at how many have had a positive test.

They have had a virus, it does not have to mean they spread the infection, it means that there is an infection in that group.
