Rosario Flores

.

Madrid, 1963. The artist has just received the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts, has published a new video clip and will release a new album in March.

What more could you want?

"Health and strength to continue singing".

The music industry has been in crisis for years and now the coronavirus pandemic is coming and it ends up making everything worse. Yes, we were already bad years ago and now with the pandemic, imagine. In this context, publishing a new album is ... Saco a new album because it is my way of living and breathing. I need to sing, dance and express my emotions and, even if we have more difficulties, we will try to reach everyone. Music will continue with and without pandemic because it is part of our life. It's like an antidote, the biggest medicine in the world. He just released a new video clip 'I tell you everything and I don't tell you anything'. What message do you want to bring to your audience? I tell you everything and I don't say 'na' and because in these times they tell us everything and nobody tells us anything. It's a bit of cheering and cheering people up with a 'funky' rumba. Antonio 'El Farru' dances with me in the video clip made by Pedro Lazaga, my husband, who always takes care of these jobs. Dance with a flamenco like 'El Farru', is it a way to vindicate this music? Flamenco is part of my life and my blood. I don't have to claim it on video because I do it every day. But yes, I am flamenco and gypsy; It is my root and that I cannot lose in life. His father, 'El Pescaílla', was Catalan. Do you understand what is happening in Catalonia? I don't know what he would say about what is happening. All of my father's family lives in Catalonia and I feel very much about that land. The Catalan public is one of the best I have. The important thing is the union. We should unite, not only with Catalonia, but with the whole world to be all one territory and one country, not thousands of countries. Yes, there is a difference, but united in love so that there are no wars or injustices. Her mother, Lola Flores, died 25 years ago, but the day she is not present on social networks is rare. it's a barbarity. She is alive and well. I always ask her for many things and she must be fed up with me. 'Mom, help me with this with the other.' I have it very present. She is a global icon, the LGTBI collective adores her, yes, my mother was to adore her. The strength, the energy, the sparkle in her eyes, what she said, without filters, how beautiful she was ... When she started in music, she didn't want to take advantage of her mother's pull, it's not that she didn't want to, it's that when I started , was very famous for being the daughter of Lola Flores. She was huge and I wanted to find my way. I started at 27 and would have done it at 17, but I couldn't be wrong. I was lucky, I did it with my soul and people identified with me. What did he learn from his parents? A lot of love, a lot of joy, a lot of desire to eat your life, to enjoy, to love, to kiss ... and that with a bonfire and a tomato with salt we are happy, not with material things. Any memories of childhood? I have thousands because my family was surreal. My lullaby was the sound of the rumba and that is how I have fallen asleep so many times. In my house I have seen music, artists and joie de vivre. How is Rosario Flores in short distances? I am very normal because my parents were very humble and good people. I love enjoying my friends, my family, the sun, the beach, a meal ... I fill myself with nature, animals, plants and I am also very spiritual, very soulful. I believe in positive energy and love. And she likes Cádiz a lot too. Yes, my mother's land, where there is more art, more joy and there is the best food in the world! I live between Madrid and Cádiz and both my children and I are very happy and happy like that. Your last work in the cinema was the 2002 Almodóvar movie 'Talk to her'. How do you remember it? It was a gift. He gave me an impressive role as a bullfighter. I had no idea and I had to learn to fight, but without a bull. It wasn't very bullfighting, but it was a very nice experience. I admire bullfighters very much because they take risks and risk their lives. I got along with Pedro very well, I love him and over there I met my husband, Pedro Lazaga. I have many things to thank Pedro for. And don't you get projects for the cinema? Yes, something comes to me, but I'm stage meat. I like my show, my live show and my stage; I give myself body and soul on stage. I lose two kilos in every performance. I couldn't live without singing and dancing, but if a director calls me tomorrow and gives me a nice role that I can identify with, I would love to do it. But where I have my energy and all my soul is in music. And what about the 'talent show' for television 'La voz kids', in which you have participated for eight editions? For me, 'La voz kids' is a gift Is there anything better that could happen to you than children love you? I feel very loved by them. They have given me more than I have given them. I have such a good time. We return in March. What do you ask of life? Health and strength to continue singing and to be able to fill hearts. To create, are crises or moments of happiness better? Both happiness and grief put you on the surface . When you are sorry, your feelings come out more, and with a joy, too. What is not valid is the middle ground, you have to pinch yourself a little so that things come out. How are you living the coronavirus crisis? I want to start working in theaters, even if it is half capacity. Culture and concerts are not to be missed. Many families live off this and we are having a pretty bad time, but I am optimistic. Let's see if with the vaccine we return to our normal life. And the Government, is it correcting in the management of the Covid pandemic? The Government tells you everything and does not tell you anything: they have us crazy and they are not clear. I ask that, when they say things, they do it well and do not drive us crazy. Many people are in great need and that should not happen today. This is the first thing the government should attend to. Would you go on tour with a politician? No. My policy is love and union. I have never approached any political party because I believe that artists should be politicians of the people, be with the people and not belong to anyone, without interests involved. I am not from any party. Artists and music don't have it.
