Berlin (dpa) - Led by World Cup eighth Joel Dufter, four speed skaters have resisted the removal of the national sprint coach Danny Leger.

In an open letter, Dufter, Stefan Emele (Erfurt), Jeremias Marx (Erfurt) and Hendrik Dombek (Munich) criticize the lack of communication in the German speed skating and short track community.

“Many DESG athletes are currently very dissatisfied with the situation.

There is hardly any communication with the athletes, ”says the letter.

The trigger was that DESG did not extend the contract with Inzell trainer Leger, which expired at the end of the year.

The athletes criticize the fact that after more than six months of Matthias Große's presidency, “many trainers and employees were dismissed mostly without justification, but their positions were not adequately filled or not filled at all, shows how little sensitivity and expertise the DESG works”.

"Not to mention the obvious human misconduct and personal plans for revenge."

Dufter had vented his anger before.

“I'm really pissed off.

I've worked with Danny for more than ten years, and now a year or so before the Olympics, your coach will be stolen from you, ”the 25-year-old told the German press agency.

There was not a single conversation before Leger was disembarked.

"That puts the athletes in front of a hole that is difficult to fill," says the open letter.

"I can not remember that football professionals in the Bundesliga had ever publicly complained when a coach was taken away from them," said DESG President Große of the dpa.

He did not want to comment on the allegations in detail: "On January 22nd, we will publicly and transparently address the entire coaching situation in the association and announce the filling of the vacancies."

After taking office, Große had already released national coach Erik Bouwman and sports director Matthias Kulik from their offices.
