A health defense council is being held on Wednesday and could enact the adoption of more severe restrictions against the coronavirus.

Even if a general re-containment does not appear to be a topical issue, several avenues are being studied, in particular those of local curfews.

While Covid-19 contaminations are still high and the progression of the British variant worries, the government is sounding the action with a new defense council on Wednesday, followed by a press conference on Thursday.

New restrictions may come into effect.

Case-by-case or generalized measures?

Several hypotheses are now on the table.

The first would be to extend the curfew to critical areas, as was done last week, on a case-by-case basis.

This Tuesday already, the Var and the Drôme see the curfew advanced to 6 p.m.

In total, 25 departments are therefore affected by this measure, mainly in eastern France.

Then, the curfew at 6 p.m. could be generalized to the entire territory.

According to the same logic, this advanced curfew throughout the country could be doubled with confinement at the weekend.

The head of state will therefore have to arbitrate on Wednesday during the defense council.

On the other hand, the information collected from the field by elected officials is worrying, especially concerning the English variant.

Government services report several homes in nursing homes and schools, pending the results of a national study under the aegis of Public Health France.

This state of affairs could tip the scales in the direction of tougher decisions.

The identity of the person who will announce the new measures will be edifying from this point of view: depending on whether it is Jean Castex or Emmanuel Macron, we will understand whether the turn of the screw is light ... or more severe .
