They are two of the strongest voices when it comes to the issue of climate change.

On Saturday, they had a virtual meeting with each other - the 18-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg and the 85-year-old religious leader Dalai Lama.

The Dalai Lama took the opportunity to both pay tribute to the Swedish activist at the same time as he criticized his own generation.

- When I heard this young girl from Sweden, I felt that there is hope for the next generation.

My generation created a lot of problems that they now have to solve, said the Buddhist leader.

Praised the work of the Dalai Lama

Greta Thunberg thanked the Dalai Lama for his commitment to the climate issue but also took the opportunity to give him a homework.

"Educate yourself, learn as much as possible and then spread it to others," Greta Thunberg told the Dalai Lama.
