Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The funding program for the digitization of companies in Saxony-Anhalt is to be increased by 20 million euros.

In view of the continuing demand from many medium-sized companies, the aim is to expand the digitization program as quickly as possible, said Minister of Economics Armin Willingmann (SPD) on Tuesday.

The funding was only increased by around 14 million euros from reallocated EU funds at the end of 2020.

The program called "Sachsen-Anhalt digital" is intended to support small to medium-sized companies in particular in the digitization of products and business processes.

It is also aimed at developments of digital games, apps and software.

In total, 920 digital projects have already been approved since the program started in November 2018, the ministry said.

The funding volume now amounts to 67.1 million euros and is entirely made up of funds from the European Union.
