Cloppenburg (dpa / lni) - After the renewed outbreak of avian influenza in the district of Cloppenburg, 9,300 turkeys were killed on Tuesday.

As the district announced, the H5N8 type pathogen, which is highly contagious to poultry, was found in the Lastrup farm.

This means that avian influenza has broken out on 16 farms since December.

Around 194,000 animals had to be killed, 177,000 turkeys and 17,000 ducks.

A restricted area and an observation area were established around the farm.

In the restricted area with a radius of around three kilometers, the district examines eleven poultry farms every two days.

In large parts of the district, the ban on bringing in turkeys and ducks is initially in effect for 30 days.
